Mnps 2023-2024 School Calendar – A quick and simple Metro Nashville Public Schools board meeting was darkened by news of the shooting at Rob Elementary School in Uwald, Texas, Tuesday night.

"We are deeply saddened by the senseless and horrific shooting at Robb Elementary School in Auld, Texas," Principal Adrian Battle said at the start of a regular meeting. "Children have the right to learn and grow in a safe environment free from violence or tragedy, and society often fails to protect that right. Our hearts go out to all the families at Evalda who have lost loved ones. We are working with our student support services team to provide our faculty and staff with the tools they and their students is needed to deal with this tragic event, and to consult with the Metro Nashville Police Department and MNPS Security to determine further steps. The fastest and easiest topic to pass is the MNPS budget for the 2022-2023 school year. The school board was scheduled to vote on a version of the budget at its May 10 meeting to present to the Metro Board. Board members have questions about a support staff salary study, which should inform staff augmentation. The study was a collaboration between MNPS, Mayor John Cooper's office, the Nashville Public Education Foundation and the City Schools Human Resources Academy. The council had not seen this before this meeting. A special meeting was scheduled for May 17, but was canceled at the last minute. Metro's legal team recommended that the May 17 meeting not be given sufficient notice. Another special budget meeting was held at 3:00 p.m. Before Tuesday's regular board meeting, the board voted to approve the budget.

As the board discussed the budget, Chairman and District 5 Representative Christian Boggs asked the school board to discuss reducing the budget from $10 million to $12 million, while Metro Sen. According to Battle, the board cut nearly $22.6 million from the state, " Contrary to information previously provided by the Department of Education and the Tennessee Department of Education." Between Metro State Congressman Allen's letter and Mayor Cooper's special budget proposals, cities are using the power of budgets and public opinion to shape MNPS spending—demanding less than they receive. It was announced how to spend it. As mayor, Cooper can allocate money to the board but cannot dictate how it will be spent. Still, he emphasized in his address a 4 percent increase in COLA and paid family leave. He even released a video this week promoting his campaign with an MNPS bus driver.

There was also some discussion about cleaning contracts. Taylor noted that he does not want to work with companies that offer "below a living wage." The board of directors voted to postpone the approval of the contracts. Tennessee Titans Announce 2023 Girls Flag Football League In Partnership With Metro Nashville Public Schools

According to Metro Nashville Public Schools, the month-long summer camps combine classroom learning with physical activity and other experiences to provide a holistic developmental curriculum for students in kindergarten through eighth grade and half-day classes in ninth grade and beyond.

The program, which offers loan repayment vouchers to high school students who apply before June 11, will begin June 7 and families can choose which school their students will attend, the district said. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the student-to-teacher ratio in grades 1-8 is limited to 13 students to one teacher, determined by actual school availability.

The program provides free breakfast and lunch to students every day at no cost to families.

Under state law, all families enrolled in MNPS can apply, but priority is given to students who need the most academic support or meet the state's definition of financially challenged.

In grades K-5 the program takes place between the hours of 8:00 and 15:00. From June 7th to July 2nd.

The program will be held at Amco, Belshire, Norman Binkley, Carter-Lawrence, Charlotte Park, Robert Churchwell, Cole, Hattie Cotton, Cumberland, Dodson, Eagle View, Thomas Edison, Fall-Hamilton, Glencliff and The Governor. , Alex Green, Haywood, Inglewood, Jolton, Jones Feida, Tom Joy, Henry Maxwell, J. The MNPS Extended Learning Program offers before and after care at select locations such as the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, Turnip Green Creative Reuse, and the Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee.

There is also a questionnaire for families whose students are learning English or who need additional educational support.
