Huntsville City School Calendar 2023-24
Huntsville City School Calendar 2023-24 – The Houston Independent School District Board of Education has approved the 2022-2023 academic calendar, which will add a month of spring break. April is added and the last day of the first semester is moved before winter.
The calendar consists of one week of Thanksgiving break, two weeks of winter break, and one week of spring break. Students and staff will be closed on Labor Day, MLK Day, Chavez-Huerta Day and Memorial Day. HISD will also hold a fall break on October 5th and two spring breaks on April 7th and April 21st.
Huntsville City School Calendar 2023-24
Trustees approved a grant from the Texas Education Agency to support high-quality after-school programs. $882,500 comes from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Fund (ESSER) III to be used to accelerate student learning during the COVID-19 outbreak. The dollar provides support in three areas: staffing for high-quality after-school programs, technical assistance for after-school planning and implementation, and high-impact after-school programs.

Trustees approved a $100,000 donation from the United States Soccer Foundation. Williams MS The donation is through the It's a Game for Everyone Foundation and Safe Places to Play programs. Equipment and materials include one mini-pitch system structure including LED light bars, wall-mounted playing surface, built-in goals, storage, seating, polycarbonate sign, ADA access door, acrylic mini-pitch surface with playing line. Agreed colors and school logos.
The board approved a donation from Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. The church will provide $30,000 each in facilities to Blackshear ES, Cullen MS, Lawson MS and Yates HS. The purpose of the donation is to pool each school's resources to help students in need. Donated items include clothing, toiletries and subway tickets.
