Denton Isd 2023-2024 Calendar – Jairia Diggs, principal of Providence Elementary School since 2017, has been named Denton ISD Director of Federal Programs and School Improvement. Miss. Diggs will move into the position shortly after a suitable replacement is available.

"Her previous experience with campus and centralized service levels has provided her with the valuable insights we need to support school improvement efforts in the region."

During his five years at Providence Elementary School, Mrs. Diggs has built a reputation for implementing systems and processes to enhance student learning environments. Under her leadership, the Providence Society for Professional Learning reviewed individual and group student data in the classroom, identified learning trends, and planned next steps for teaching, intervention, and enrichment, resulting in significant academic outcomes.
Extended School Day / Home
Previously, Ms. Diggs served students at Roanoke Elementary School (Northwest ISD) for four years. In addition to her responsibilities at the campus level, she serves the district by coordinating mentors for elementary teachers and training for the Texas Professional Development and Assessment System (PDAS). Her reputation as an educational leader gave her the opportunity to introduce the structure of professional learning communities to other school districts in the state.
Additionally, while at Northwestern ISD, Ms. Diggs was an active leader, providing professional development activities through professional training and data assessment. She led a social media learning forum that evolved into a district-wide discussion on the book Learning Objectives: Helping Students Understand the Purpose of Today's Lessons.
Miss. Diggs served as a fourth grade homeroom teacher at Whitley Road Elementary School and taught at Keller ISD for three years. She transferred to NISD's Kay Granger Elementary School, where she taught several classes, including serving as a kindergarten homeroom teacher.

In 2011, she joined Peterson Elementary as a Gifted Specialist with additional assignments as Campus Technology Communications Coordinator, UIL and Destination Imagination Coordinator.
Miss. Diggs holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master's degree in reading education from Texas Woman's University. She received her director's certificate from TWU. She and her husband James are raising four children.
