Ccsf Calendar Spring 2023 – The CCSF administration has just confirmed their intentions: to dismantle our college. In an email sent today, David Martin made it clear to chairs that he will be cutting their department budgets to end the layoffs of most of the 38 professors who received pink slips and 136 part-timers in their departments. From computer networking, ESL and ESL, to floristry, consulting and more, CCSF's core software is under attack.

The projected budget, the budget voted on by the Board of Trustees, was delivered to the departments in February. Includes terrible discounts. But it still includes enough FTEF to rehire most full-time rosés and many part-time. Management can respect that. But now they have announced their intention to cut the budget beyond what BOT agreed to. AFT 2121 President Malaika Finkelstein today sent an open letter to the Board of Trustees challenging this latest cut at City College.

Typically, there is a budget and departments allocate faculty within that budget to serve our students. But David Martin turned it around. Decide how much college you want and cut your budget to get there. This shows that our students do not think at all about what is unreasonable.

It is very important that they are waiting for students to start signing up to announce it. It is clearly established that they cannot redeploy full-time workers to part-time jobs. However, BOT was assured that these cuts would not cancel programs as faculty would be redeployed. This is one of the justifications BOT gives for voting on the layoffs, claiming they were told no departments or programs would be cut.

It's time for honesty. These dismissals will lead to the expulsion of students from the school and the closure of entire departments. Board members, if you want City College to continue serving students, you can resist. You can still request that the quote you agreed to be honored. You can attend public education. If you can't find a way to do that, we invite you to step aside.

The current layoffs and cuts are unnecessary and short-sighted. A stable and thriving CCSF needs local investment to meet the long-term educational needs of St. Franciscans. It's clear that the discredited state agencies – ACCJC and FCMAT – want to cut City College, and it looks like the current CCSF leaders will follow suit. Now is the time to step up the fight to combat this trend and generate more revenue for CCSF to support faculty, students and staff.

Season Previews: Spartan Sports Prepare For Spring

Remember that all part-time teachers can file for unemployment when you experience a job loss. So PT librarian, counselors, coaches, etc. can apply for unemployment insurance (UI) benefits.

Adjunct faculty members who have health insurance through CCSF in the spring retain those benefits for the summer. Benefits will apply until the end of August even if we do not have summer or fall assignments. This is not an extra gift – we paid for it. Because many part-timers do not have summer jobs, summer deductions are deducted from spring wages.

For full-time faculty members who have earned pink slips, benefits continue through the end of June. If it does restart, we want to make sure there is no interruption in coverage. Please let Malaika know as soon as possible what your mission will be, the pregnancy. (@mfinkels)

Ccsf Fall 2022 Schedule

At the COPE meeting at 1:30pm on Tuesday, we will begin the approval vote and review the latest updates and information on the November vote on the Unitary Revenue Alliance to bring in more than $40 million annually at CCSF. We will also discuss the signature collection campaign necessary for the registration of ballots.

At the DA meeting on Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m., we will go over the latest updates and information regarding the layoffs approved by the Board of Trustees on May 6. There is a March 15 layoffs FAQ document that answers many questions. If you can't find an answer to your question, please let us know using our layoff inquiry form by Tuesday. That way we can try to find the answers before the meeting!
